Just came back from Bangkok with my girlfriend. That was my first trip to BBK, it was so fun and exciting. The things were so cheap that we went crazy over shopping. In the end my luggage was over weight!!
We stayed at Samran Place. It was cheap and clean, except that it was abit noisy (because it is along the main road) but bearable. It was about 10 minutes walk to Ratchathewi Sky Train (where Asia Hotel is located).

We were in BBK for 5 days and we made plans for many places. But in the end we only managed to cover a few places because we went back to the same place twice. Yes! Twice! We went to Platinam Mall twice, because we only covered two floors on the first day.
.
DAY 1 - Platinam Mall is a wholesale centre, therefore not much bargaining required. Except that we need to buy at least 3 items to enjoy the wholesale price. But it was ok, because we can mix and match and don't have to buy 3 of the same item.
.
.
Platinam Mall sells practically everything, shoes, clothes, bags, evening dress, accessories, etc...
(Platinam Mall is about 20 min walk from our hotel, Tuk Tuk about 60 baht, but could be cheaper because it is really near)
.
We had lunch at the foodcourt in Platinam Mall. We were spoilt for choice, everything looked so good. I had this "Spicy stuffed meat beancurd noodle". It was really spicy. They used chilli padi for the soup. Lucky for Elyn, she ate the non spicy one and that was very good.

Look at the difference in soup colour. The bottom one is the spicy and the top non spicy.

Walking back to our hotel from Platinium
DAY 2 - we took sky train (BTS) to MBK, only a few stops away, but we need to transfer at Siam. Nothing much in MBK, except for more variety of food. There was this Japanese restuarant, Fuji restuarant , whereby the food were very nice and cheap, and a place like Marche. Lots of tailor here, tried one (which seems to have the most customers) but it was no good. The shirt came out too big, in the end i need to send for alteration back in Singapore.
.
For dinner, we went to eat at this local "restuarant" near our hotel. The food are nice and unique. We had this "Crispy Fried Fish", which don't looked like fish, because it was fried "mashed" fish meat. But it was really delicious and almost every table have this dish.
Every table were given this plate of raw vegetable, consist of cabbage, long beans and some other weird veggies. But we didn't eat it, because they taste too raw for our liking. I think we still prefer lettuce as "salad".
..
DAY 3 - (Saturday) we went to Chatuchak Market, also known as JJ Market by the locals. It's located near Mo Chit Station, so it's very convenient to travel there. I have been to many bazaar, but that was one of the biggest that i have ever seen. You can practically find everything you want in that place, from food, clothes, household wares, furnitures, lightings to pets. Yes, they sell all kind of animals like puppies, kittens, fish, etc. Despite it was very HOT, but being first time there, both of us shopped from 930am till around 230pm. And we only covered, perhaps only one quarter or one third of the place.
